The giver

In the book The Giver by Lois Lowry, you will come across a main character called Jonas and he is experiencing many things in life, many emotions are flowing through his body. Like on the first page Jonas said, “Jonas was beginning to be frightened when a unidentified flying object appeared  overhead He saw it twice when it had overflown the community back and forth.” First of all, This affects him deeply because if he can recall this palpable moment. The Giver is basically about emotions that are being unlocked through life. Also, Fear is a very powerful characteristic, being fearful can sometimes push you of the edge so when Jonas was witnessing this, he felt like something horrible was about to happen.

However in page 31 Jonas starts thinking about what is normal and abnormal in his life. This is not just about him anymore now he is speaking for the whole community. The text says, “Jonas was glad of the nuance of nudity. This case does not stand with newborn and elders. But others... you’re crossing the line. Even if you glimpse at it is still awkward silence after the requested apology” First of all, This affects Jonas because if there are set rules to his lifestyle that everyone follows he would obviously pick up on others behavior while locking his away. Also, This may be why everyone is dependent on the community leaders and rules, they don't even know how to do what they want.
